Join the Voice

The Voice is now recruiting for 2008. Whether you’re a new student or just new to the Voice, we need your help to make our paper the best it can be. To learn more, join us at our open house, Friday, January 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 in our office, 413 Leavey Center, or email us.

Interested in working at the most exciting newspaper on campus? Here’s what you need to know:

  • You don’t need to have any prior experience to work for the Voice. We can teach you the skills you need to write, report, photograph, edit, design or even manage our business end—there’s no end to the opportunities to contribute to the Voice. In fact, that’s part of our mission—to make up for the lack of a real journalism program at Georgetown.
  • You’ll get your voice heard. Our circulation of 10,000 – plus our internet readership—makes us one of the most influential media outlets on campus.
  • The Voice is the most innovative, independent paper on campus—we’re all about breaking boundaries, and we have been since we split off from the Hoya in 1969. You’ll have the chance to see your ideas in action from the start, whether its writing the story you’ve always wanted to see in print, designing the perfect page or making the big ad sale.
  • We have a great time putting out our paper. Whether you’re covering an NCAA game with the national media, interviewing a major politician or pushing deadline with a breaking story on Wednesday night, the work is exciting. Plus, we have great parties.
  • The Voice is your place to get a start if you’re interested in journalism as a career. Our alums have landed at CNN, CBS, Agence France Press, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Republic, The Washington City Paper, Entertainment Weekly, the Poynter Center, The Nation, and The Washington Post.

If you’re convinced, email us, or stop by our office at 413 Leavey on a Wednesday night.
