Professor Chuck Hagel

February 5, 2009

Former Senator Chuck Hagel (R—Neb.) will be joining the Georgetown faculty next year as a Distinguished Professor in the Practice of National Governance.  Hagel will teach classes on U.S. Foreign Policy to both undergraduate and graduate students.

“I am honored to become part of this respected institution and look forward to contributing to the important efforts that Georgetown continues to make in educating our next generation of leaders,” Hagel said in a statement released by the University.

Hagel was a powerful voice in the Senate for twelve years, and he drew fire from his Republican colleagues for his statements against the war in Iraq.  Hagel spoke on campus last September about the escalating financial crisis.

“[Senator Hagel] is a great addition to our community of distinguished scholars, and I look forward to his contributions to Georgetown,” President John DeGoia said in a statement.
